50 United Nations Plaza – New York City’s Newest Landmark and Iconic Luxury Condominium by Zeckendorf Development and Global Holdings

Rare opportunity to own the first residential tower in the United States designed by world-renowned architects Foster + Partners

SINGAPORE, 17 September 2013 – Zeckendorf Development, LLC, one of New York’s most trusted developers, together with sole marketing agent Jones Lang LaSalle, is pleased to introduce 50 United Nations Plaza (www.50unp.com) – the first residential tower to launch in the United States designed by Foster + Partners. Sales will begin in Fall 2013.

Situated in the heart of Manhattan, occupying a prestigious location across from the United Nations Headquarters, 50 United Nations Plaza will set an exceptional standard in luxury living and is a milestone for architectural excellence in residential development.

Featuring 88 magnificent residences with expansive interior layouts, the development will have spectacular views of the UN Secretariat building, the East River, the Chrysler Building and the New York skyline. Residences will range in size from one-bedroom apartments at 106 square metres, two bedrooms from 105 square metres, three bedrooms from 242 square metres, and full-floor penthouses with five bedroom and two staff rooms at 547square metres, as well as a spectacular two-floor penthouse measuring 902 square metres.

The penthouse features an infinity edge pool which gives one the feeling of being suspended high up in the sky surrounded by New York’s most iconic skyscrapers. Weighing more than 10,000 pounds, a stainless steel staircase floats within a glass enclosed double height space linking the upper and lower floors of the penthouse.

Residents at 50UNP will benefit from top of range facilities that include a private health and fitness centre, 75-foot swimming pool, spa, temperature controlled wine cellar, valet parking, conference centre, beautifully landscaped gardens, individual basement storage units and 24-hour concierge. The individual apartments have been finished to the highest specification with high ceilings and custom-made interiors by Foster & Partners, oak hardwood flooring, Dornbracht fittings, central climate control with granite countertops and Miele appliances in all kitchens. This full service building will be staffed with 24-hour doormen, a live-in manager and staff of building porters.

"We are thrilled to again partner with Zeckendorf Development on creating another premier New York City residential condominium,” stated Eyal Ofer, Chairman of Global Holdings.  “With a location facing one of the most famous and important buildings in the world, 50 United Nations Plaza will attract considerable interest from buyers who recognise there is no other opportunity in New York City to own a home created by one of today’s great architects.”

Commenting on the development, Arthur Zeckendorf, co-chairman of Zeckendorf Development, LLC said: “As this new architectural residential landmark designed by Foster + Partners launches, we are excited to see great interest from potential buyers who view New York City as the world’s premier destination in which to live and work.”

“The collaboration between Foster + Partners, Zeckendorf Development and Global Holdings will set new standards for luxury living and create one of the most memorable residential buildings in the world, which will fit securely and independently among New York’s iconic towers,” he continued.

Added William Lie Zeckendorf, co-chairman of Zeckendorf Development, LLC: “50 United Nations Plaza will undoubtedly be a landmark new luxury residential destination. The location is unrivalled with its iconic views and historic presence across from the UN headquarters.”

The exterior of 50 United Nations Plaza is characterised by deep bay windows, which accentuate the magnificent views and broaden the elegant living spaces within. The windows are unified by a delicate horizontal grid of stainless steel tubes that wrap around the building.  The tower’s jewel-like quality is further enhanced by highly reflective panels, which run vertically between each of the faceted bays.

“50 United Nations Plaza is destined to become an international landmark, defined by its modern architecture and renowned location,” stated William L. Zeckendorf, co-chairman of Zeckendorf Development.  “This neighborhood is of great personal significance to my brother Arthur and I, as our maternal grandfather Trygve Lie was the first UN Secretary General, and our paternal grandfather assembled the land upon which the UN Secretariat building now stands.”

A bracelet of lush planting encircles the tower, set within the wider context of the UN Sculpture Garden and surrounding parks including Dag Hammarskjold Plaza at First Avenue and 46th Street.  Inside, the warm color palette of the grand lobby is complemented by granite, claret marble flooring and lobby walls accentuated by walnut rods. A stainless edge on each rod receives and reflects light from the flames of the open fireplace.

Said Doris Tan, Head of Residential International Projects, Jones Lang LaSalle, Singapore: “We are indeed very excited to be involved in this amazing development and reviving interest in New York properties in Singapore. The New York residential market has always been vibrant and like London, it is a cosmopolitan city with a lot of buzz – a city that never sleeps.”

50 United Nations Plaza is scheduled to be completed in late 2014 and will be within close proximity to restaurants, shops, attractions and services. It also boasts excellent transport links, with numerous subway and bus stations nearby. JFK Airport and LaGuardia airport are 20km and 8km away, and Manhattan Island is easily accessible by foot.
