Spotlight

17% growth in headcount

With a portfolio of over 240 brands under its belt, Pernod Ricard is a global leader in wines and spirits. The brand believes in bringing people together by creating a culture of conviviality.

As the Asia Pacific headquarters, its Singapore office plays a crucial role in growing the Pernod Ricard brand and culture.

From traditional to thriving

The firm’s previous office space struggled to keep up with their evolving needs.

An increasing headcount meant that Pernod Ricard had outgrown its previous 9,000 sq ft office.

The traditional fixed layout also left no room for flexibility in configuration. The assigned seating system offered little space to collaborate or focus on their individual tasks. Narrow desks, cluttered walkways, and limited meeting rooms were common pain points experienced by employees.

When its office lease was up for renewal, Pernod Ricard turned to JLL for a comprehensive office leasing solution to meet the needs of their business and people.

Envisioning a convivial future of work

The firm envisioned a workplace that prioritised employee well-being, reflected their brand’s vibrant personality, and fostered a collaborative, egalitarian working culture.

To bring this vision to life, our experts across office leasing advisory, workplace strategy, and project management came together with a One JLL approach to deliver a holistic solution tailored to Pernod Ricard's unique culture and business goals.

Right place, right time

JLL’s Office Leasing Advisory team secured a coveted office space at Six Battery Road in just three months.

Through our extensive market knowledge and tenant representation experience, Pernod Ricard could choose from several suitable locations in Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD).

We also explored the feasibility of Pernod Ricard expanding within their old office building but found that they would have to operate on multiple floors.

Pernod Ricard quickly set their sights on Six Battery Road. Located in the heart of the CBD, the prime Grade A building offered proximity to amenities, a premium address, and breathtaking views of Singapore’s Marina Bay.

Importantly, the certified Green Mark Platinum building would provide a strong foundation for the company’s sustainability goals.

Fit for purpose

With the perfect location secured, JLL’s Workplace Strategy team’s evidence-based approach helped Pernod Ricard identify what they truly needed out of their new office.

We spoke with boardroom level executives and conducted surveys and engagement sessions with employees to understand business priorities and pain points.

For example, while traditional meeting rooms and pods were available in the old office, employees lacked options for open collaborative spaces. As more employees returned to the office, this contradicted the open, inclusive culture that the organisation envisioned.

Based on these findings, our Workplace Strategy consultants recommended implementing activity-based working concepts to create flexible, multi-functional spaces with dynamic team zones, for Pernod Ricard to create a workplace that was fit for purpose.

The recommendations ensured that the firm’s new Asia Pacific headquarters could cater to various occasions, activities, and work styles.

Agility key to tight timelines

Understanding that a smooth, timely delivery was critical to success.

JLL’s Project Management team delivered Pernod Ricard’s office fit-out within just four months, meeting Pernod Ricard’s hard deadline to celebrate Chinese New Year in their new office.

With regular progress updates and reports on risks and mitigation measures, the team identified missing gaps, anticipated sudden changes in requirements, and took swift action to rectify through leveraging trusted partnerships with vendors and contractors.

Working with vendors who have access to sustainably sourced build materials and furniture was a priority. Most products introduced to the new Pernod Ricard office were sourced from the Asia Pacific region to minimise carbon footprint and delivery times.

The Project Management team also organised a charity sale for old office furniture to further support Pernod Ricard’s sustainability efforts.

"Our office is not just a place to work – it’s a place to collaborate, socialise and celebrate our successes. JLL managed to build a strong partnership with us by understanding our unique needs and providing suitable solutions, on schedule. Our new APAC headquarters is where we can all come together and share a convivial moment."

Sustainable, collaborative, future-proof

Pernod Ricard’s new office embodies its commitment to a greener, more open, and brighter way to work.

From biophilia to dedicated recycling facilities, sustainability is weaved into the workplace experience. Smart technology such as sensor-based, dimmable lighting and optimal temperature control keep costs down and create a more comfortable space for employees and clients.

The signature bar is the focal point of office. Set against a backdrop of the Marina Bay, it is the office’s social hub where people can come together for events, from client cocktail workshops to internal townhalls.

While the hidden Le Cercle vault offers an exclusive speakeasy-like experience for VIP clients and guests, personalised lockers and art installation help employees feel they belong.

Pernod Ricard's new regional headquarters in Singapore is more than an office – it is a testament to their commitment to business excellence, sustainability, and employee well-being.

We are proud to strengthen the partnership with Pernod Ricard as they continue to drive a more convivial way to work for their other offices.
