Over the next five years, Singapore will have navigated a successful transition towards COVID endemicity and benefited from a sustained reopening of its domestic economy and borders, as well as economic expansion.

In the short-term, domestic consumers would have also enjoyed stronger real wage growth and excess savings during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 to cushion the impact of higher inflation and interest rates on consumption.

As such, our research suggests Singapore’s retail market is on the road to recovery over the next five years.
